Motorola’s recently unveiled Xoom tablet computer, which could become a serious market rival for Apple’s hot-selling iPad, looks set for an imminent retail launch via the shelves of Best Buy.
That’s according to the eagle-eyed industry watchers over at Engadget, who cite a leaked Best Buy document in their claim that the Xoom has been packaged and priced for a February 17 go-date.

The Xoom, which made quite an impact during the recent Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas, is powered by NVIDIA’s dual-core Tegra 2 chipset and will arrive as one of the first tablets carrying Google’s optimized Android operating system (v3.0/Honeycomb).

Current reports swirling around the Xoom suggest a retail price of between $700 USD and $800 USD, which places it well within the iPad’s pricing bracket—a 3G-equipped 32GB version of Apple’s tablet costs $730 USD.
