With so many different tablets flooding the market, it can be extremely difficult to know which ones are the best to buy. The Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 is a fine tablet, but is it really the best one you can get?  This is a 10.1 inch tablet which runs Android 3.0 and is a new breed of tablet designed to compete with the iPad 2.  This has been designed by Samsung to beat Apple on almost every single specification of the iPad 2.  Everything is that little bit better and improved compared to the apple specs!

  • NVIDIA Tegra II Dual 1GhZ Processor
  • 1GB RAM (double that of the iPad 2)
  • 1280 x 800 PLS LCD
  • 16 GB Storage
  • 565g (lighter than iPad 2)
  • Wi-Fi
  • GPS
  • Bluetooth

Build Quality:

The Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 is one of the best built tablet computers currently available. This is built as you would expect from many other Samsung devices. This is extremely high quality and a lovely piece of kit to hold. It also feels very comfortable in your hands as the weight is just enough to make it feel quality, without being too heavy to hold.

The design of the tablet looks fairly similar to many other tablets. But after all, there is only so much that you can do with the design of a tablet computer. This is a very thin tablet and this makes holding it even more enjoyable.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 is thinner and also lighter than the iPad 2 and this makes it a very desirable tablet.

The screen on the Galaxy Tab 10.1 is fantastic, it is without doubt one of the best screens on any tablet currently available. This uses a PLS LCD screen which can display at high quality 1280 x 800 resolution. This also produces colors very well and can be viewed easily from an angle.

The Galaxy Tab 10.1 has a four way gyro which allows the screen to rotate on all sides. This may sound like something you can live without, but it’s actually extremely useful and something you will really appreciate after a while.

The cameras in the Galaxy Tab 10.1 certainly won’t replace your existing digital camera. However, they are good enough for casual use. This has a 3 Mega Pixel camera at the rear, and a 2 Mega Pixel front facing webcam. This is notably better than the iPad’s cameras.

Battery Life:

The battery life of a tablet computer is very important because most people will want to use it away from their desk. In order for the tablet to be as useful as possible, the battery should last for a very long time. When the battery is flat then your tablet is no more useful than a stone weighing down your bag.

The Galaxy Tab is fitted with a high capacity 7000mAh battery. This does take quite a long time to charge, however it will last for 9 hours of use according to Samsung.  Big plus for that.

Just like any other tablet computer this features Wi-Fi networking connectivity. It can also be connected to the computer with a USB cable. Instead of using a mini or micro USB connector, this uses a proprietary connector. This reduces the thickness of the tablet, but it does make it more difficult to find a replacement cable or charger if you need one.

This tablet also has built in GPS and Bluetooth like other android tablets. You will also have access to Adobe Flash content which gives you a much better experience when browsing the web than the iPad.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 is a worthy contender. This is a very thin, light and practical tablet which runs Android 3.0 Honeycomb. Plus it’s that little bit better than the iPad in every single way, just other people won’t believe you when you try to tell them!
